Literacy in RE

Religious Education contributes significantly to the development of student’s language and literacy skills. In all lessons speaking, listening, reading and writing are essential facets which facilitate and aid in the learning process.     The development of these skills is an integral part of the teaching and delivery of Religious Education and there are clear expectations and learning objectives. Subject staff will actively encourage the attainment of these objectives in their lessons by using a range of activities and tasks.

·           Where appropriate, reading around the class.

·           Verbal questioning with student responses.

·           Group activities and presentations.

·           Varying written activities

Subject staff will also reinforce these expectations by marking and correcting work regularly and by setting assessments which include the language for learning objectives.
